Though thou givest many gifts (Pro 6:35)
posted @ 2:42 am in [ Overeaters ]
I am dedicating today’s day after Christmas blog to Angelic who likes fruitcake. :) I am grateful no one gave me one this year. Besides not liking fruitcake it packs a walloping 100+ calories per ounce!  If you did get one this year, here are some suggestions as an alternative to eating it.

Top Ten Uses For Fruitcake

10. Use slices to balance that wobbly kitchen table.
9. Use instead of sand bags during El Nino.
8. Send to U.S. Air Force, let troops drop them.
7. Use as railroad ties.
6. Use as speed bumps to foil the neighborhood drag racers.
5. Collect ten and use them as bowling pins.
4. Use instead of cement shoes.
3. Save for next summer's garage sale.
2. Use slices in next skeet-shooting competition.
1. Two words: pin cushion.

LOL@number 9. I didn’t get fruitcake this year but my SIL gave me a box of chocolates **sniffle** going to give them to the kids.

  2. editor Says:

JIL, remember the advice to put them on top of the refrigerator? LOL!

  3. Toni Says:

I got chocolates for Christmas, too from dh. I plan to share them, for one. I also feel in control enough to have only one when I crave something sweet and chocolaty. If I start to lose control…they will discretely go to help Mr. Trashcan gain some weight. My dh always loves me with food. I’m trying really hard to not let him all the time, without hurting his feelings.

How are you doing today, Editor? We know you’re not eating fruitcake!

    Dear Lord,
Be with Editor today, help her to feel her fullness and stop when she’s had enough. Help her to crave healthy foods. Give her the energy to move a little more today than she did yesterday. Fill her with your love and enthusiasm for beginning her weight loss journey now. Help her to remember that You are all she needs to satisfy her soul. She is supportive to so many, help us to be supportive of her, too.

In Jesus’ Sweet and Holy Name,
    Amen

  4. editor Says:

Toni, indeed in His sweet and holy name. Amen and thank you. Being in control is a blessing for you and I praise His holy name for that.

Mr. Trashcan and I need to become intimate once more. I am back with a vengeance, but not today. That is, albeit knowing on my part that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. It is wonderful, intimate moments with people such as you that makes me desire to join the human race once more. :)

Oh, thanks for a special day, editor…

lol, I like your ‘top 10 reasons’…but how can fruit cake be a # 1 [pin cushion] or # 7 [rail road ties]? One has to be soft and7 has to be really hard? — oh, I got it…#1 is when it is ‘fresh’ and #7 is after it has been passed around ‘a few times’…lol

I didn’t get a fruit cake this year either — at 100 calories an oz. it is probably a good thing…not sure if I could even get it put on top of the ‘fridge…

I need to get more personal with Mr Trashcan also…
Altho’ I did a bit better today than the past few….

  6. JIL Says:

    HI Editor,
Oh I remember the chocolate on the fridge advice..but I think it(calories) must have had some therapy its no longer afraid of heights LOL..Lord thank you for Editor bless her and supply her every need help her to attain her goals in every area of life including weight loss in Jesus name amen
Editor I saw under your goals you said you wanted to address issues of self esteem and claim your heritage in Christ those are really good goals and I thought to myself when I read your post that I could relate..are you doing a particular Bible study?
***JIL waves hi to angelic and Toni***

***Toni waves back to Jil and Angelic***

Hope your day went well Editor. I too have self esteem issues. It seems to go hand in hand for most of us who are overweight. Not sure if it’s the cause or the result. You are a lovely lady with a beautiful heart for God and for His children. The daughter of a King.

  8. editor Says:

A party went on while I slept. Angelic, Jil and Toni came to wish me well. Thanks! Toni is right. A great deal of lack of self-esteem is from the weight issue. A great deal right now is from my marital issues. I have two manuscripts of God speaking. I will be re-reading them for His intimate love and rediscovering that I am a daughter of a King.
