Walk On By
Has that bakery captured your mind? Are those giant cookies and yummy pies calling you constantly? Are you just around the corner from it, and it’s all you can do to not stop? You know you really don’t want to have the extra calories, and you really wish it wasn’t so much on your mind, but…..
Walk on by. Just drive past. Don’t get off the bus there. Keep going!
It will only be a few seconds of difficulty, and you can manage it with God’s help. You’ll feel a lot better after you’re past it.
Think of what you really want. You may crave sweets, but ask yourself if it’s the sweetness of life you’re really craving. Are you tired and needing a carbohydrate sugar-lift? Take a 10 or 15 minute nap instead.
You can do it. Don’t give in or give up. Let the bakery go by the wayside as you walk on by.
What is the only thing/things you CAN NOT walk on by? Fast foods, chocolates, chips? I have done quite well in taming cravings and impulses. Except for pizza. It is my binge food and I admittedly have never turned it over to God, or as TLT taught us, to “amputate it” from my meals. Think about today what food item keeps you from soaring and share it with us.
