10 Steps to a New (Lighter) You Want to lose weight? Plan for success.

  • Don’t be a slave to the scales. Weighing yourself every day can be dispiriting. Reshaping your body is about more than just weight; it also includes toning up — which won’t show on the scales.
  • Love yourself. No matter how little we eat, few of us are going to wake up looking like a supermodel, so we may as well accept our limitations.
  • Be realistic. Set yourself plenty of small goals along the way rather than aiming for a distant point and a massive weight loss. Achieving small goals on an ongoing basis helps boost self-esteem and makes us feel positive.
  • Don’t just diet. Increase the exercise levels. Working out in tandem, eating less food, and getting more exercise comprise the foolproof method of losing weight.
  • Don’t get discouraged by minor hiccups; we all have them. Accept them as the hiccups they are, and look forward to the next day.
  • Make sure you don’t go hungry. There are plenty of low-calorie snacks such as fruit, so there is no need to feel constantly hungry when you are dieting.
  • Set healthy targets. Aim for at least five fruit and vegetable portions each day. This will not only ensure you feel full; it will ensure you are feeding your body with a good balance of nutrients and vitamins.
  • Keep the fridge well-stocked. When there is an absence of healthy food in the house, it is easy to reach for the cookie jar. Ensure there are always healthy alternatives for when the rumbles start.
  • See a diet as something positive. Don’t get bogged down in what you can’t eat, but enjoy what you can. Create new recipes, try new foods, and invite friends over for healthy dinners.
  • Celebrate your successes. Tell people what you have achieved, give yourself treats and enjoy them.

It all just looks so simple in black and white, doesn’t it? Ten steps to a new and lighter you. Sounds like a 10 step program. Perhaps if we took a step at a time and memorized it and put it into practice before we approached the next step, we might be achievers in our weight loss goals.
I read these a few times. I can attest that these are true. Yet, when I did a self-evaluation, I could plainly see I am breaking all ten of these simple steps.  I will be working on them, I assure you. One at a time. Do an evaluation and let us know how you are doing with each of these steps.
