2. Our Father, I am grateful for yesterday that I was aware of You and had opportunity to serve You. I thank You for the gift of self-control that was displayed. I thank You that You are indeed leading me on the path of recovery. I praise You when I can see Jesus dining with me, fellowshipping with me and helping me to overcome my bondage. I am grateful for a day that I could eat without indulgence. I pray for Your continuing strength from above as I walk with You in the Spirit and not in the flesh, for Jesus’ sake. Amen
Day 2 Scripture: John 8:10-11 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
Application: “There is therefore now no condemnation for sin, (when) we are in Christ Jesus.” Any sin can be forsaken and repented of, but first has to come conviction. The woman who was caught in adultery was accused, and by law sentenced to be punished. She knew her sin, but at the Master’s feet she let go of it. Jesus tells her, “Go and sin no more.” We may join all the diet programs we want to, but when we go and sin no more we become successful at our attempts. We not only lose weight, but we keep it off because we have left our life of sin behind us. He does not condemn the one who turns around and leaves the past behind them. To overeat when the body is not utilizing that nourishment is to be excessive. All things are lawful for us in moderation. Moderation is the key to finding your way out of weight gain. You can lose weight alone based on the principle of portion control.
Prayer: Father God, Jesus set the example at the well with the Samaritan woman, when although hungry, He refused the food that His disciples brought to Him, saying, “My meat is to do the will of My Father in heaven.” Lord, had we been about doing Your will, we might not have so much time on our hands to overindulge in food. Help us back to feeding others with Your Word, and let us cling to the Bread of Life, Jesus Christ. Amen
