40 Day Praise & Prayer Journey
posted @ 2:40 am in [ 40 Days Prayer ]

4. Heavenly Father, it was such a treat not to count calories and not be obsessed with what I ate. It was a victory of sorts to remember days in the past when I did not have a weight problem and I ate as a normal person. It was freeing to chose healthier choices and to not overeat. I pray that ahead of me there will be days like that again. I pray that once I can lose this weight, that it will be permanent. That I will not let old ways and habits creep back in until I find myself in bondage again. David said that with Your help he could advance a troop and scale a wall. I ask also for that confidence of the ability You are going to send me to overcome, in Jesus’ name. Amen

Day 4 Scripture: Luke 7:50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Application: I can almost hear the Master say these words to me as I prayed for deliverance from food addiction, although at that time I hadn’t realized it. I knew with my own willpower, I would only last a week or two on a diet because a diet is about restriction. But Christ Jesus is all about freedom. Freedom from bondage, and praise God when I let go of the comfort of food, He rushed back in there to be Lord of my life again in this area too. Sound too simple to be true? Jesus said it, “Your faith has saved you, go in peace.” Having faith in the Lord, and not our own flesh is what will make the faithful to attain, and those trusting in the flesh alone to fail. Having faith in the flesh, that we could regulate our body’s needs at will got us into the weight gain dilemma to begin with. Having faith in Christ, that He is able to free us and sustain us, then sets us free from our very selves. We are no longer bound to our own fleshly desires and weakened willpowers. It is an act of faith to renounce our former patterns, an act of contrition to give them up, and Jesus once more says, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”.

Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son who shows us the way to You, and Your will that we be in health. Through Christ, we can do all things because He strengthens us. Thank You, Lord, for the strength to win this battle. Thank You Lord, that I may now go in peace. Amen
