Day 5 Scripture: Ephesians 2: 4-5 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions — it is by grace you have been saved.
Application: “When we were dead in transgressions,” brings thoughts of terror to me. I am saved by the grace of Christ, but I had strayed from the path of righteousness when I began a journey to comfort and satisfy myself with food, rather than the Lord Jesus. God’s grace saved me from eternal damnation on the day that I received Christ as Savior, and He saves me again as I return to the love of my Lord and not the things of this world. Food did become more important to me than the Christian witness I give by my appearance. Is our words and actions the only things the world judges us on, or do they also judge us by our appearance? If we care for our Lord, and we are sent into this world as a light and testimony of His as ambassadors, shouldn’t we try to appear appealing as He is?
Prayer: Lord God, in Your mercy forgive me for forgetting that I represent You to many. People might have their very first impression of You by what I appear to be. Make me a Christian who not only talks the talk, but also one who walks the walk. Amen
